KBShimmer Winter Collection 2014

kbshimmer winter collection
Hi lovelies! Today I have another Christmas/Winter collection, this time from KBShimmer! Warning: VERY pic heavy!

Snow Way is a classic that was first released in 2012. It's a pale blue crelly with white glitter and micro sparkles. Does this remind anyone else of the movie Frozen? This is 3 coats. 2 layers of top coat may be needed to smooth out the glitters.

Mauve on Over is a pale mauve crelly with orange navy and aqua hex glitters. I wanted this color because it's unlike anything in my collection. This is 3 coats.

Merry Pinkmas was the one I was most excited for, and the most disappointed with. I love the bubblegum pink color, but it was difficult to work with. I had to do 3 coats, and each time the pink would cover up the glitter, so they all looked pink. I ended up having to take a tiny brush with acetone and cleaning up the glitter so I could take a better pic.

Sugar Plum Faerie was originally released in 2012 and is back for a limited time. It is a soft plum violet crelly with purple, blue, and green holo hex and micro glitters. It's beautiful! This is 3 coats, 2 layers of top coat may be needed

Fallen Angle is a royal blue jelly with holo blue triangles, holo silver and blue hex glitters and micro sparkles. It's similar to I Got a Crush on Blue, so if you already have that one, I'd skip out on this one. This is 3 coats.

All Decked Out was originally released in 2012 and is back for a limited time. It's a forest green jelly with a rainbow of hex glitters. There are gold stars, but you will have to fish around for them. This is 3 coats.

Pine-ing for Yule is a glitter topper featuring green triangles, red star glitters and micro holo glitters. Not too crazy about this one. I put this over Sinful Colors Snow Me White. 2 coats.

Spot Sign is unlike any glitter topper I've seen. It features leopard spot shaped glitters, black dots, and micro glitter. Seems like a weird choice for a winter collection. I put this over Sinful Colors Snow Me White, and wasn't too thrilled with it. I might like it better over a red or orange.

Flake Dance features silver holo snowflakes, silver holo hex and micro glitters. I glitter fished like crazy and never got a snowflake! I put this over O.P.I Red Hot Rio

Overall, this collection was just okay for me. I like the jelly and crelly, but didn't care too much for the glitter toppers. If you have never used jelly or crelly polishes, I don't recommend trying these yet, as they can be very aggravating. Which is your favorite from this collection?

  1. Okay, I'm kind of sad to read about Merry Pinkmas because that's one that I was really excited about too, and it should be here tomorrow. I wonder if it would work better layered over a different pink polish?

  2. I completely agree with your post. I've always felt that KBShimmer polishes were mediocre at best- formula and originality wise. It always irritates me when I see rave reviews because I know its just people saying what they "should" say. So many other great brands out there!
